University of Pennsylvania has established the Thomas R. Ten Have, PhD Memorial Fund, honoring the memory of our esteemed colleague, teacher, mentor and friend. The Memorial Fund will serve as an ongoing tribute to Tom and his many accomplishments in categorical data, longitudinal analysis and causal inference; these methodological contributions are well known, as was his work as an applied statistician, mainly in psychiatry, and as a cherished mentor to countless students and junior faculty. We could not launch this Fund without the commitment and generosity of many individuals who have committed to help us to reach our goal of $150,000 for endowing the Fund.  We are extremely grateful to all who have already reached out to us to pledge their support. Initially, the Memorial Fund will support an annual Thomas R. Ten Have, PhD Memorial Lecture and reception, the first of which is scheduled for May 23, 2012 on the Penn campus. As the fund grows, it will also support other scholarly activities honoring Tom’s memory, including student and junior faculty awards as well as supporting diversity initiatives.

Tax deductible contributions can be made online at the URL below:

Donations to this memorial fund will be matched from U Penn’s departmental funds until May 31, 2012.
